mapping keys in xterm

I have read the man page on xterm and the "xterm control sequences" document. The only thing I see for remapping keys is "-tm" but that doesn't seem to give enough information on how one would map a function key to say "Ctrl+W". I am attemting to setup xterm to telnet to an AS-400 and the users need the function keys to work for a variety of commands in the spillman program. If any of you can either tell me or point me in the right direction I would very much appreciate it. Thanks.
