Mapping/GPS software for lappy

Curious to hear from those with mapping software with GPS on how well this technology works, what should I look for and what are some of the better brands of software. I'll be hookin' up to a Dell AMD Turion X2 1.8GHz w/ 2GB DDR Ram and ATi 1150 256MB intergrated video. Will this lappy be enough power for the virtual maps, etc.?

For mapping, you can try before you buy Topofusion. It will put "Demo" on the map, but otherwise is fully functional. Only $40 if you want to buy it.

Version 3 just added DirectX to 3D and has a good drag and rotate view of topo.
