I'm setting up a fileserver in my apartment and would like to be able to connect to it from anywhere I'm at by mapping a drive. However, I want it to ask for a username and password. How do I go about doing this?

Thanks!

It "should" do this by defualt as long as you have security set so that the "everyone" group doesnt have full perms. Also make sure to turn off simple file sharinf

Disable the guest account and password your account. But I doubt you'll be able to map a drive over the Internet as most ISPs block ports 445, 139 and 135.

FTP's also extremely insecure and should be avoided for anything that you don't consider public.
