Maple Story is the MOST addicting game ever

I have been playing this game for a month, and I am so addicted.

For those to whom this is a new game, it is a free 2d game, and my best description of it is that it is kind of like Super Mario Bros. morphed into an RPG, keeping the best elements of both. The result is that it is an extremely entertaining game where you pick from 4 classes, or jobs, and advance to higher levels. The classes split into other jobs, so it becomes very varied, with many choices. You basically fight lots of different monsters, with your weapon of choice. The result is hours of excitement, trying to get that next level by gaining experience. Upon leveling, you get ability points and skill points, to be divied wherever you think you need them. I totally recommend this game to everybody, and did I mention that it is free? Go to mapleglobal.com to download, but BTW, the only weakness of this game is that its host site requires IE, and won't work at all with firefox, unless you are smart enough to have the extension, IE View. Download, but before you choose the stats for your first character, go to either the maple story section of gamefaqs.com, or to mapletip.com, to read on how you should set your stats for whatever job class appeals to you. But remember, if you get addicted, it is totally my fault. Oh, and try to remember that once you make a character on one of the five global servers, that charcter is stuck there for all of time. Try not to go to scania, as it is very crowded. I am on Khani, and it is great- not too many people, and not too many high level players yet.

If you want to see videos of high level players in action, go to youtube.com, type in maple, or maple story, and you will get plenty of good results. They are fun to watch, especially if you have just started, and still only have like a 5 attack. Or maybe depressing... But they inspired me.

For those of you who care, or are wondering, I am a level 29 rogue, will be an assassin soon, and it took me about 2 months to get here. A year will yield a 3rd job advancement, and after that, you are a beast.

Lastly, let this thread be a discussion place for those of you who have played this game, or for people who have questions. I know that there are only 500k people playing it, but hopefully some of you are in that number.

Best of luck!

Whats your problem?

As for the OP's comment: I didnt think Battlefield 2 and HALO 2 were especially addicting, and I'm not really into most online games anyway.

BUT, I will try it for a few days before I denounce it.

Sorry if you guys don't like it, but it is free, and probably one of the best 2d games ever made. If you kon't like 2d games at all, then you won't like this. But if you like Super Mario and RPGs, it might surprise you. And my email was instant.

My co-worker got into it -- Level 75+ after about two months.

Wasn't my thing though -- it was pretty much walk and kill stuff & the enemy AI isn't good at all.

You can team up w/others and buy/sell -- there appears to be a basic economy.

It is what it is -- free -- and it isn't bad looking. Just not my thing.

So... is this like Diablo II where you play the game for the sake of leveling up? With those games, I'm usually interested in it for about a week before I realize that there's absolutely no point in playing except to level up again and find another piece of rare armor. It happened with D2, and then with Dungeon Seige, and again with NWN. Fool me once, shame on me; Fool me three times, I hate this genre.

Yeah, that's about it. Ecxept that it is really fun to some of us. And BF2? You play it to get ranks, weapons, etc. And it is fun. And all the other games in the world? Get "prizes" and have fun. Name one game that gives you a tangible benefit.

Like I said, you will be better off reading a guide first, or not spending ability points until you know the class you want to be.

Tried it for about week and hated it

Nothing special about it besides the 2d aspect
there are plenty of free mmorpg out there that have vastly more content and offer far far less repetitive gameplay
