Blue Moon and Sam Adams are decent for being mass market beers.

I'd be curious to see a chart like but just for craft beers.

Sam Adams won in IL because I live here.

Love their seasonal stuff. Oktoberfest and Winter Lager are amazing. Summer ale was ok.

Double Agent IPL is good too.

Not a chance. If Colorado really hates Bud Light then the top beer there will be Coors Light or Miller Lite. Maybe Pabst. It damn sure won't be Blue Moon and Blue Moon won't outsell Bud Light. If they hate Bud then Bud Light will only outsell Blue Moon by 5-1 instead of 50-1.

PBR is mostly found in trendy places or college towns.

...And we have a lot of those (See: The 1UP or all of Boulder for an example), so I was kinda shocked to see Blue Moon won CO. Makes me wonder if PBR wasn't even on the list as an option?

There are a ton of micro breweries here in Colorado. I wouldn't be shocked if they found out Breckenridge Brewery or New Belgium wins for the Colorado state, you can't go into any bar without finding Fat Tire or Avalanche Amber on tap/in a bottle.

Of the beers represented in that poll, Sam Adams is the only one I'd drink even in a pinch. I very much doubt that either Sam Adams or Blue Moon is the best selling beer in any state, though I'd like to believe that SA is the best selling beer in the northeast. I would think the best selling beer in every state would be Miller Lite, Bud, Bud Light, Coors or Coors Light (none of which I have drunk in at least a decade).

I like Sam Adams because Boston Lager is solid and most places typically only carry their seasonal on tap (unless they have more than 10 taps)...so it means you get decent seasonal variety and don't get bored. I prefer their Oktoberfest this year...I think it's even better than past years I've had it.

As I stated before. Yuengling is my other pick from the list because it's light body and amber color give it enough character that it's a hybrid between certain beer snobs and the light beer drinkers. Certainly not a light beer, but it's not a hoppy beer so it appeals to the masses.

The beers I tend to buy for my beer fridge since I've not been brewing lately is Budweiser and Coors (both in the can). I've been drinking more Budweiser than Coors because my wife likes it better. I've had more different bottles of beer than most and brew a lot of different beers that I typically drink whether other people like them or not. All the American breweries amaze me. American lagers are very difficult to make and the level of consistency that we get to enjoy is something that should be treasured. It's nice to have a 12 pack on hand when you need an occasional beer at home.

In Pennsylvania, it's Yuengling. All those states for which Bud Light is their favorite must now hang their heads in shame. ;)

GAH! I've said it before and I'll say it again. Yuengling is not good. Some might think it is, but they would be wrong.

As a Virginia native I know that what I said above is blasphemy. But someone has to tell the truth, no matter how much it might hurt.

Also - the map counts DC as a state. Results are therefore inherently suspect.

You can say it until your jaw locks open, and you'll still be wrong.

Not really surprised despite the rise of craft beer the mass market stuff still easily outsells it.

Hell I live in Michigan we've got multiple awesome craft brewers, Founders, Bells, New Holland just to name a couple....but still most people buy the cheap shit. I agree with other posters about liking Sam Adams, their Oktoberfest is pretty tasty stuff on tap.

New Holland Dragon's Milk Bourbon barrel stout is my usual goto because one beer will get you feeling good on an empty stomach. Just the price tag is problematic...20 bucks for a 6 pack...but totally worth every penny. Easily the beer beer I've ever had.
