i dunno iwether it is virus or ad ware, i am having this problem 3 time.i donno when or why,the problem occur EXACTLY on the same time. the problem is,

1 ) my yahoo messenger cannot receive any message from other people. just hearing the incoming msg bell, but without any message. if i want to send message through that yahoo messenger, my typing is not coming out from the message window but the message that i had typed, coming out from the people i sent to. i had tried to re-install the yahoo messenger, but i still not working

2 ) my window media player is stuck, cannot play any movie or audio. it say, "an internal application has occured ".i also tried to re-install the windows media player, but the same problem occured. but the other media player , such core media player, is working.

3 ) my norton internet security also is stuck , not working anymore. then, i tried to perform online virus scan ,also, did't work.

4 ) when i want to restore my system, back to the last time when it is working perfectly, but it also stuck. because of that, i think i can do the system restores in the windows safe mode, but it also not working. the other program also working slower.

5 ) i did the repair install, but the problem still occured. then i use the last choice , perform clean install. after perfomong the clean install, i installed the exact sofware i installed before, and then, the problem coming again. i am tired from this problem. after i write this post, i am formating my windows for the 3 rd time, in just 1 week. i dont have any other choice other than formating the window. please help me.

seems this problem have connection with my norton internet security's problem, both of them wont start to scan virus when i press the icon.

not only this housecall60, but all the online virus scan wont start scaning when i press the button

First of all, Symantec sucks, and so do messengers. That, and you have too much crap in your startup. I'm guessing you have tons of junk you could uninstall through Add/Remove Programs that would greatly help performance, possibly fixing the problem.

First of all, the other poster is correct, get rid of the Norton Security software, it is junk. Use Zone Alarm firewall, instead. Get your self a good free anti-virus program. There is one that I think goes under the name of AVG or something like that. And also, use the free version of Ad-aware from Lavasoft.

Also, he is also correct, if you want your computer to keep any integrity for any period of time, stop using any of those messenger programs. A good way to screw up your system.

Good luck.

Purge the HARD DRIVE and yourself... Get a new brain. No honestly, I would suggest that you deep clean your hard drive to the standard or beyond of DOD's requirements. And then. Install everything you can first [OS, DRIVERS] and connect to the net and UPDATE [WINDOWS]... then update [DRIVERS]... After you're all done with that, go and get AntiVir [freeware Anti-Virus Program] and both [Spybot S&D and Ad-Ware SE] and update them and run them.

FINALLY, DOWNLOAD GAIM... And nothing ELSE.

And don't install the logitech's mouse drivers... THEY'RE JUNK, you don't need em. AND ALSO UPDATE TO SP2 AND THE LASTEST PATCHES... Its worth it...
