Good lord! Who would have thought? Good thing they did a study on this. :Q

Seriously, I learned about this like 10 years ago. Why is this news? Personally, I don't care one bit about AIDS because 95% of the people with it get is because they are stupid and thus they are making a better world for me by killing themselves (getting AIDS). All blood donated is tested for AIDS, so getting it via transfusion is pretty unlikely. The info has been out for many years now. If you are stupid enough to get it from unsafe methods, you deserve it. It sounds harsh, but how many years has this been a huge issue now? How many times have you heard about AIDS and how you can get it, etc... If someone get it on accident from a transfusion or something, then I truly feel for them, but I don't think one cent should be spent to help the druggies and people who have reckless sex every night with someone new.

That is one of the most ignorant statements I have heard in a long time.

I think the point is that we can't stop AIDS awareness and education programs just because we seem to have started to see a decrease in transmission rates.

Why? He's only telling the truth. Schoolchildren are taught about AIDS and how it is transmitted at a very young age, and that message is reinforced countless times through schools, television, news reports, public service messages, etc. No one alive in this country has an excuse for not knowing what behaviors put him/her at high risk, or for not knowing how the disease is transferred. I'll second WarSong; I don't give two sh!ts about AIDS, because the disease is nearly 100% preventable. There are far many more important diseases that are not a result of a lifestyle that we should be spending our money on.

you guys are harsh. someone makes a mistake and gets a horrible illness and/or dies and you say the world is a better place? you are telling me you have never had unprotected sex? ever?

edit: oh and so no one gets the wrong idea or anything, i'm not condoning unprotected sex. I just think most people have done it at least once in their lives for whatever reason and I do not think this punishment fits the crime.

Were AIDS not associated with homosexuals, these guys wouldn't be so harsh.

Damn, what rock do you live under? You've obviously never been to any large cities or poor rural areas in the US. Schoolkids by and large don't have a freaking clue about HIV, what it does and a how it is transmitted. Hell, most of them hardly even know how pregnancy occurs, much less HIV. You need to wake up.
