Sandy Bridge changes how people overclock. If you find someone who was skilled at socket 775 overclocking and who hasn't read up on Sandy Bridge overclocking, and hand him/her a Sandy Bridge setup to overclock, much gnashing of teeth would ensue.

Exactly! So, a user chasing benchmark numbers and super high clock speeds would probably do as you suggest.

EVERYONE ELSE who uses their machine day to day is better served with using offset and leaving EIST enabled.
