Mantraps for homes

Has anyone ever considered buying or building a mantrap (set of interlocking doors) for a home? Has anyone have any experience with this? I'm considering doing this to the hallway that goes into the main rooms of a house.

Think what would happen if they were allowed to escape.

Just look at what happened to jeffrey dahmer, one kid escaped and got to a police car. Jeffrey came up with a story that the kid was his lover. The police believed jeffrey, and nothing happened. Jeff almost got caught that time.

OP, go with a basement. Much easier to control ingress/egress.
Also it's easier to soundproof it and bolt chains to the walls/floors.

1 - man traps are illegal
2 - why the hell would you put a man trap in a place where you regularly walk??


In any event, your best and safest bet for a man trap is to use something very similar to a fluorescent light ballast. A fluorescent light is powered from a high voltage transformer in series with a large inductor. The high voltage is used to strike an arc across a fluorescent tube, then the inductor keeps the current low and acts as a voltage divider once an arc is created. That's perfect for killing a person. A large voltage like 2000V is easily enough to cross a person's body and their clothes, and a large inductor will keep current low so it won't start your house on fire.
You don't need a lot of current to kill someone. Your mom's hair dryer might use 10A at 120V. To stop a human heart, you need much less than 1A or even 0.1A

I thought it was illegal to set traps for people on your property, despite castle laws?

For example, you can stab them to death, but you cannot let them step into a bear trap.

Wait, so to save himself from a murder charge he convinced the police he was a child molester AND THEY LET HIM GO? wtf?

You might be able to convince a judge that your machine made a citizens arrest as long as your trap doesn't cause any physical harm. Then again I'm not a lawyer. And I don't know how to make a trap that doesn't kill people.

Create small entrys where people can get in, but they can't get out, effectively trapping anyone trying to invade your home.

Those doors are going to take up a lot of room when open. You might want to look into some kind of folding design.
