I am taking a bunch of time off this month and plan on doing some little mods to personalize my DD and my toy.

Boxster- first gen snorkle mod-

http://www.pcars.us/10min-boxster-de-snorkel-hack-t3401.html

Took me all of five minutes and improved intake sound immensely. Butt Dyno agrees with actual dyno results. Improves low rpm torque and earlier power delivery through the powerband. 4-5 horses for free!!!!

I will take a picture of my actual intake next time I take the top off.

Exhaust- Previous owner replaced stock exhaust with oem sports exhaust from porsche. Compared to the other boxsters I drove this one sounded much better even thought the tips needs some work-I know I am a nub for listing something the PO did but I am proud of it nonetheless.
To do list:

Replacement shift boot and aftermarket shift knob. Original has heavy wear.
Paint wheels and touch up 3 curbed spots
Replacing stock head unit with aftermarket kenwood- doing tomorrow
Custom cup holders-NO GD CUP HOLDERS IN THIS CAR

I hope to be 100 percent with this list this month.

Here are really bad pictures of the calipers

2008 G35X

Just replaced all 4 rotors pads and full flush. Had less than 20 percent when purchased

Installing a mini itx or a umpc into glove box or trunk and integrating it with the factory screen. My journey model did not come with nav but has a nice screen that I can work with. I have a sony umpc 3800 touch screen that I am probably going to use. I can use a mac touch pad with those modded drivers and use it to command a car pc with Nav Ap. I keep a hotspot with me at all times for business so I can use that in car anytime.

Replacing stock y pipe with a magnaflow x-pipe. Read a nice write up on the g 35 forums where guys get nice sound some butt dyno goodness. I surmised the y pipe was a bit restrictive.

Oh also replacing the rims on the minivan too..

Looks like fun. I'd definitely try the AWD->RWD hack on your G35.

OMG I WISH! If my motor ever goes on the boxster I may drop in a 3.2. Hell I priced it out. With my engine now being low miles I can sell it running for 5K or more! The entire 3.2 drop with would cost me about 7K more.... I also considered buying a higher mileage one and doing that immediately but the wife looked at me like I was from another planet to even consider it.

If it wasnt my DD I would.

Screen I am a tad worried about it but it seems like its a simple bypass. The way the awd system works is it only sends power to the front when its needed right? I am trying to figure that out. I would use the switch so infrequently and would even consider putting it somewhere I cannot reach from the drivers seat to prevent accidental use. I am most worried about using the switch while the system is on vs turning the car off and using it.

I hate to be a small rodent on this one but it intrigues me!

thx for responding guys, after posting this yesterday with no comments I felt like I had no friends ><

Nice. I drive an almost identical 07 g35x, and love it. Too bad last time I checked, there were no turbo kits available for that model.

I want a fun convertible at some time in my life... been looking into the boxters. they look like they are a decently fun setup

keep the G awd. I doubt you will see much of a difference unless you just want to do a burnout with it

I thought there were more than a few blown G35s. I know I will be contacting GTM for their SC when my warranty expires. 400+ HP in a grocery getter sounds awesome.
Currently I have a new exhaust, springs, FSTB, and a few minor upgrades. My Volks and swaybars are going on next.

Zivic- The boxster has been great as a convert/summer DD for me and the wife as well. She has been driving it almost as much as I have. She was not so hot on it at first but when her friends loved it she caved lol

Mechanically they are very sound minus a few small issues. Power to weight is decent even for the base model. If you can afford it get a S model with 40-50 more horses. The one big red flag on boxsters- and 911s from that gen for that matter-is the intermediate shaft. It was poorly designed and failed on some people withing 10K miles. The failure rate is unknown since Porsche is the apple computers of the automotive world if you ask me lol

Oh btw forum call out. What sounds better. Miata or Boxster stock vs aftermarket. Ill post some boxster youtube vids later.

/ducks

@ballmode My wife read my post earlier and said I came off like a little bitch in my friend comment lol and yes I look forward to seeing your WRX on friday!! Will take some side by side picts for the forum of our cars.

@howard Man that looks sweet! If I had a bigger garage I would so want to try something like that on a boxster. As it is now it feels fast. It doesnt pull anywhere near as hard as mu g35 does but it feels so much faster since its so small and light. I can WOT all day long and barely break the speed limit. If I want to break the speed limit it does so with style as well. If this car had 100 more HP it would be amazing. The chassis can handle much more power I think.

How much warranty left rks? I cant wait to hear how the suspension upgrades affect feel. How much louder is the ARK catback you have over than stock with windows closed and cruising? I may do an exhaust over the winter or spring.

Pardon the nubbishness. What is a FSTB?

throttle body?

Question guys. Looks like I can get a painted to match rear factory spoiler and the front lip for a 100 bucks each. I would normally grab the spoiler but the little chrome spoiler thats on there now makes me think the rear of the car will look too busy. What do you guys think?

I will measure the front of the car after the drop. I am afraid I will have issues with clearance in winter though with that lip.

FSTB = Front Strut Tower Bar (looks good but is basically useless).

I have a 2011 with just over 12K miles already so I have a few years to go. :\

The springs aren't too much stiffer than the OEM "S" springs. I would guesstimate about a 10% increase but with no bounce. I have heard the sway bars help significantly but those won't be on for another week. The steering feel was already pretty good and I hope this makes it even better.

The ARK is louder but not too obnoxious. There is very little drone if any and you can have a conversation. But my wife does turn up the radio so she doesn't have to hear the exhaust. You live a couple hours away but if you want to meet somewhere in between let me know.

I am adding the OEM front lip in the spring and it goes for about $400  I honestly don't think it is much lower but I already have to angle my approaches on driveways to avoid hitting the exhaust.

I actually bought (haven't installed it) a body-colored trunk piece to replace the chrome. I think it was about $150 painted/shipped. The only other exterior mod I am considering is a tiny roof spoiler but if it looks too busy I'll reconsider.

A guy on the G35 forums is selling blue bat black gtr vinyl overlays for our cars for 50 bucks. Would those look too ricey?

Next I am in ohio I will holler at you. Would be nice to hear what that exhaust sounds like in person and see how your suspension feels after install. Any twisty roads in the middle we could meet at and enjoy for an afternoon?

I was thinking about getting that same chrome replacement for the trunk but have it fairly low on the list.

This winter I decide if 19s or a full cat back is next.

IIRC thats how much they are new from Bluebatmobile himself.

I have the GTR overlay for my tail lights on the first gen, I paid 45 for them and 90 to get installed.

Installing them is a bitch and a half. I had a person who applied vinyl decals at a body shop. She took her time and made sure their were no bubbles. But the issue is Bluebat cuts them by hand and hardly leaves enough material so you have little to work with.

So I just tried the 2wd mod on the G. It was a rainy day here in indy and it oversteered like crazy. VDC seems to work well enough but transmission shifts seem a tad more jerky.

I am debating on where to put the switch. Any ideas?

Ill take some picts soon. I do want to use an aircraft rocker with cover for that ghetto mod look!

updating parts orders..

autoanything can kiss my castiel........

they showed my eibachs instock last month when ordered and still not shipped...

FRACK

the fake JDM grill I was sent was for a coupe not my car....they are shipping the correct one tomorrow supposedly..

I think I may be selling the boxster in the next couple of days. The wife complained about her back the last two trips we made and made me use the G35x for our brown county weekend..

I am so heartbroken that I have to sell I could actually cry...

so I am going to console myself with a maserati..
