Did you know that physicists of the time were not absolutely sure that once a nuclear reaction started on the face of the earth it would not stop? Meaning that it could have consumed the entire planet? They went ahead with the testing anyway.

The nuclear reaction started by the first atomic test did, in fact consume the entire planet. You are but a mass of electrons floating in a void that only thinks that it exists. All hail nuclear power!

I vaguley remember reading (I forget where) that it was the first H-Bomb that had them worried. I could be wrong though. Something about the hydrogen atoms in water I believe
