manga downloading

i'm trying to download manga through online manga sites, but i want to download to local storage.

i've attempted google, but the script i saw (a bash script through cygwin) didnt result in what i wanted. it was only good for a single chapter. (or more accurately, a single directory, and incremented file names.)

while i can handle the incremented filenames, the single directory isnt much help.

something nice would be the ability to respond to if the URL was a 404, then it would reset the filename and increment the directory name. and if that resulted in a 404, then it'd kill the script.

but i'm no good at scripting. does anyone have any ideas? is there a mass downloader that i just dont know how to use that would do all this?

Locked while the mods discuss the legality of this manga downloading.

There is a solution. Stop reading manga.

Problem: I want to know how to have safer sex to avoid getting STDs
Your solution: Don't have sex

Your logic is grand.

As long as their are nav links to each image, wouldn't a simple wget grab everything?

there isnt nav links to each image. each image is featured on a page, and clicking on the image takes you to the next page.

it's like <a href=next page><img src=img file></a>

so no navi links directly to any image files.

Stop asking how to pirate shit here (assuming that at least some of the manga you are trying to download is licensed in the US) which is against forum policy.

You could always buy the books the legal way. 😉

Getting something free doesn't mean you can complain.

cant stand the legal books. they transpose the names so they follow western naming convention, dont attach honorifics, etc. things that are spoken lose a significant portion of their meaning.
