hey I was wondering if you all had some good irc channels for a newbie to hang around in. I'm pretty up to snuff on windows/dos... but I'm starting up a server, and I wanna learn mandrake. (easiest one... don't have much time) so... can you all point me in the way of some IRCs? thx

also... may seem really stupid... but how do I:
a. get a link to the cdrom on my gnome desktop
b. delete two folders that i created on the desktop (no, moving to the trash bin, or hitting the delete button does nothing)

...man, this is like figgin' square one!

irc.openprojects.net

#lno - IRC channel for www.linuxnewbie.org (which is sadly a shadow of itself, IHMO, since internet.com cut loose the maintainer)

#linuxhelp - obvious but at least make an effort before asking for help. http://www.google.com/linux and www.linuxdoc.org are a good start.

#linuxsphere - stated focus is "advanced Linux topics", don't go here for help and don't ask questions, they hate that.

A lot of the "help" might turn into a "teach a man to fish and he'll eat forever" type thing. In terms of #linuxsphere, they point you to this 50MB "FAQ" which would drive a man mad.
