Mandrake Install/Cd problem - Help Please

am trying to install mandrake 9 and cant get very far at all...

The Install CD boots fine and enters setup, but as it starts loading files from the CD - I always get this error.

error in exec of stage 2 :-(

trying to execute '/usr/bin/runinstall12' from the installation volume,

the following fatal error occurred

FATAL ERROR IN STAGE 1: Not a directory

I have tried downloading from 3 different sources, in binary through an ftp client, and still I get the same error.

Please help, I dont know what the hell is going on here.
 
Just a thought..... I had a similar problem with a MD 8.2 install a couple of days ago on an old Pentium Pro box.

Swapped CDROM drives and that solved it.
