Mandrake 8.2 install question

I have an asus cusl2-c, 256mb ram, pIII 1ghz, GF2 GTS, WD Hard drive, linksys nic

I install mandrake and it seems to go fine with the first 2 cd's. Then it completes and restarts. When it goes to actually load into linux, it takes a long time and at a certain point the screen gets filled with colored rectangles and it seems to freeze. what can I do?

 
it stops after the black screen that says loading linux................... then it goes to all colored rectangles and freezes
