Mandrake 8.1 install help

I am trying to install Mandrake 8.1 on a computer with a SCSI/IDE combination. I have a 4GB IBM SCSI Harddrive w/an Adaptec 2940UW/HP SCSI Adapter. I am also using an IDE CDROM drive. While I am installing it starts a loop of crap that does absolutely nothing in the end. Can anyone give me suggestions on fixes for this problem?

Try using mandrake 8.2

You don't want to bother with 8.1... I know I did and had a crapload of problems...
