Mandrake 7.2 and Windows Me

I installed Mandrake 7.2 to dual boot with Me and when I try to boot to Me the boot loader only gets to Stage2 and then stops there. It boots into Linux fine. I formatted and installed SE on the Windows drive and everything is all right. Any Ideas?

I use 7.2 and 98SE what do you mean by stage 2?
also you might try
1) make sure you have your boot floppy
2) check lilo (or grub) to make sure that when you tell it to load windows it is looking at the correct partition
3) if that fails try to use your win98 start up disk and/or do "fdisk /mbr" to set your MBR back to windows only.
if you do that you will NEED that linux boot disk to get back into linux.
4) try to set up lilo/grub again.

Thanx. I had already tried doing those things twice. I ended up formatting and installing 98SE because I couldn't get "fdisk /mbr" to clear the mbr so that Me would boot.

Did you install Linux first then Win98? If you already had Win98 on one of your partitions, grub should have picked up on it automatically. It did that on mine, however, I had to do a "custom" install instead of a autoinstall.

I'm not having any problems now under 98SE. I was having this trouble when I originally installed Mandrake 7.2 to dual boot with Windows Me. I'd like to know what I have to do to get Mandrake to dual boot with Me so that I can put Me back on that computer. Thanks for taking the time to try and help, though.
