panties are definitely in a twist

no not mad...it's funny. The same tools bitching about the US are those wanting all it's products.

When their own countries turn on them, the first place they try for aslyum is good old USA.

don't cry emo kid, don't cry.

America is more free with private companies setting their own rules on whether they want to drug test or not.

If govn't said "YOU CAN'T DRUG TEST" that's is an attack on freedom.

People are not forced to work for these companies.

QFT, but then most feel entitled to everything their way.

Hah, you're calling other people emo after getting so emotional yourself? If your panties were any more twisted they'd collapse on themselves.

you just picked and chose the links that fit your argument. Pull all the data from one place and in the latest year.

Actually I found all the freedom indices I could that had good data. I welcome you to find similar indices that show USA ahead of NZ and other countries. Go ahead, I'll wait.

Why didn't you link the later data that was on some of the sites you did link?

Anyway it's not important to me. The only way those other countries beat the US was either someone traded money or sexual favors.

Also 'freedom' indexes don't really equate to really being 'free' nor quality of living.

Like I said. US has everything the rest of the world wants. Even you are here.

I got drug tested for a simple summer help position before college.
So I'm going to say anything that has you dealing with anything of value has a chance of it.

So I'd like to know what types of jobs in the US institute mandatory drug tests for your job? I've heard a number of people here talk about this in the past and it's something that to me at least is very alien. Seems to me a very American thing but it's possible that it's done frequently here in Canada too and I just don't know about it, any Canadian ATOTers want to enlighten me? I can certainly understand it for certain key positions like the military and such but it seems to be common in regular every day jobs, no? Seems really draconian to me, well all the drug laws in the US seem to be 🙂

I don't have time to read this entire thread. Recommend that you ask Heller ... I believe he might be able to answer your questions.

I used the most recent data I could find. Again, I welcome you to find more recent data that shows something different. I'll wait....

Also, not too sure what you mean by that last sentence. USA is almost the last place I would live or visit. Americans love to think they're (still) number one in everything, but when confronted by data have to come up with ethereal or bullshit reasons why everyone is so envious of them. Believe me, it's not true.

sonofabitch, I decided to Google it. Gaynor is right. NZ ranks higher than US:
http://internationalliving.com/2010/02/quality-of-life-2010/ (first one I found googling.)

Why does Lord of the Rings always get mentioned in the first paragraph?!

😛

I don't know why this surprises you - NZ is a country known for its quality of life. USA is a country known for...well...extreme corporatism and gun violence.

I'd argue that NZ is known for nothing except lamb and hobbiton (which is not necessarily a bad thing)

China is just a place everyone sends things to be assembled, they'd just move it to some other pisstank of a place to continue. The ideas mostly originated right here in the US.

Not for much longer. While you have been sending your stuff to be assembled there they have been busy using that money to build a world class economy in every sense of the word. They are already the 2nd largest economy in the world and growing fast. China also has a habit of saving money instead of overspending so they are economically in fairly good shape, to say nothing of the fact that they have been busy buying US debt. They are also fast becoming the course of ideas and innovation. China is pouring vast sums of money into education and infrastructure. I've seen more than one estimate that has China surpassing the US as the largest economy in the world some time in the next 15 to 20 years. If you visit any of the large cities in China their growth is palpably evident. Construction is everywhere and it feels just like any city in a first world country, New York etc... which is not to say they don't have huge problems to deal with in terms poverty, human rights and more of course.

Cool, then in 50 years everyone can hate China instead of the US

The problem with drug testing is they don't go far enough. I think its bias towards Pot . They need to do real drug test that Get the wealthy also . That show your real drug history Coke users are let off the hook meth users are let off the hook because 3 days its not detected . If your going to test do it right expose everyone. With there lifes drug history. We can do it . So do it right. Humans are so half assed for a reason .

This.

Unless safety is concerned I don't see the point in drug testing at workplaces. Isn't your performance more important than what's in your system?

Well it's their company, not yours, so they can do whatever they damn well please. I don't see a problem with it either. Who cares it's just a drug test.
