Man you gotta be kidding me right, this is Prison?

classy

WTF, this is the new maximum security luxury prison in Norway. The loser who just killed all those people over there could end up here. Man they even have an overnight cabin for family visits and conjugal visits.

I wonder what the crime rate/recidivism rate is in this prison...for some reason I bet it's better than US.

There's also a prison in the caribbean that is basically like a resort and some gang member runs the entire operation.

For Real. You can get a little squeeze on the outside to keep you straight. Who would wanna leave?

We need overcrowding so amateur criminals can learn to go pro when they are released.

If our prison system actually reduced criminal behavior then lawyers, judges and police might start losing their jobs.

Yep, compare that to the supermax prisons in the States which only serve to turn the inmates so antisocial that they have barely any hope of functioning well outside the institution.

It's fairly obvious that the prison system model of the United States is an abject failure. Even in the case of this one obviously deranged mind there's really no point in putting him through long term torture.

Why do people want to rehabilitate criminals like the Norwegian killer? Surely there are some decent people in the world that could use some help but no, we have to cater to the criminals instead. 🙄

Which do you care more about, the "cushiness" of the prison, or the recidivism rate. If you care more about the former, then you are a fucking idiot.

Seeing as how this monster should never get out of prison the recidivism rate is kind of irrelevant when discussing his case, but in Norway's F'd up system there's no such thing as a life sentence.

Singapore has a very low recidivism rate for murderers. They achieve it with a noose and about six feet of rope.

You don't need to coddle prisoners to rehabilitate them. Look at Japanese prisons. They are VERY strict and authoritarian, not at all fun places to be, but inmates are generally safe from rape or physical assault (unlike in the US) and re-offend at a low rate.

because american prisons are so successful....

also, repost. this thread with stupid "he may end up here!" BS assumptions has already been created and trashed.

the issue, here, is that this type of Norway prison, does not belong in the same discussion as Breiviek.

it's a stupid, irrelevant "OMG Us & Them" non-debate conjured out of the asses of idiots.

lets imprison this asshole so he cant pay his 50% taxes to support the socialist programs such as the non-pound me in the ass prison.

stupid is as stupid posts

0-47.5% means they have 50% tax rate?

weird way to interpret that, but I wouldn't be surprised. I mean, some people out there watch Glen Beck and listen to Rush, so they must believe those clowns when they lie to them

for comparison, US: 0-33.5% federal, 0-10.5% state, which means: 0-44%, right?

44% ~47.5% ~50%

making up numbers and playing with data is fun!

Norway's prison guards undergo two years of training at an officers' academy and enjoy an elevated status compared with their peers in the U.S. and Britain. Their official job description says they must motivate the inmate "so that his sentence is as meaningful, enlightening and rehabilitating as possible," so they frequently eat meals and play sports with prisoners. At Halden, half of all guards are female, which its governor believes reduces tension and encourages good behavior.

fuck that shit.

fuck that shit.

It works for their country, and the results are FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR better than ours (US).

Violent crime is a speck over there, this clown's horrible tragic murderous actions capture a lot of attention, but statistically speaking does it really make up for the literal hundreds of murders, rapes, beatings, and attempted murders we see here on a daily basis?

That said, I wouldn't blink if he was "accidentally" backed over by a transport bus or something 🙂
