Even though roaches aren't "toxic", I bet he did have some kind of reaction to them. I have tried vacuuming up mostly dead roaches before, and they release a terrible smell. I have also picked up and thrown away a smashed roach, some of his guts must have gotten on my hand and even rinsing it didn't remove whatever bitter taste I found myself tasting later on when I got a drink of water and touched the edge of the cup. If he was munching on them then he probably got a combination of exoskeleton lacerations in his stomach and whatever that nasty roach juice stuff is into his bloodstream.

Since those roaches were not FDA approved I wonder if that store is going to be liable, regardless of what he signed.

I don't think he swallowed live roaches. He most likely chewed them first. Crappy way to go though.

I actually used to go to that very exact Reptile shop many many years ago when I lived in that area with my old roommate that had a 6' albino python.

There was a guy that worked there that was blinded in one eye from a snake that spits venom that caught him off guard.

The guy still worked there after that event and said he didn't blame the snake for doing it.

Guess he didn't learn his lesson?

Anyway, goes to show the kind of people that run the place.

He could sign his rights away but what the store failed to realize is you cannot sign other peoples rights away. So his family can sue and claim some kind of compensation.

Lawsuits for sure, it is only a matter of time.

What would be the lesson he should have learned?

Given that roach shit is a major environmental hazard for homes, I'm pretty sure they're toxic to eat.
