Edward Archbold, 32, of West Palm Beach became ill shortly after the contest ended and collapsed in front of the store, according to a Broward Sheriff's Office statement released Monday. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities were waiting for results of an autopsy to determine a cause of death.

According to BSO, Archbold, who won the contest, started regurgitating after it was over. He later collapsed in front of the store.

Live? Did he not chew? Christ, those things will eat anything, and if their option is to be digested or eat you from within, take a guess at which they'll do...

The bugs consumed were from an inventory of insects "that are safely and domestically raised in a controlled environment as food for reptiles."

Good news, The Python will be held in his name for the estate. So his family still gets to keep the prize if they go and pick it up.

Creepshow was a craptastic movie. I started watching it with my daughter, but we both decided to bail on it. Terrible. I give it 2/10.

I'd bet it was an allergic/anaphlactic reaction. Even if the bugs were alive in his gut, he wouldn't have died that quickly from bites, etc. It could also be that the fermenting bugs in his gut produced some kind of toxin. It doesn't say how many he ate.
