Depends on what your friends like to do. Don't limit yourself to those sites. You can go camping on the beach, going to the beaches to watch pro volleyball players play, tons of museums and stuff... just be creative. I don't even live in LA, but I go there every month and never have problems finding things to do.

If non of your friends have been to In n Out, then you must take them. If you want to watch sports and drink beer, the ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney is pretty nice.

anyways, it's Mi Piaci . . . that is SO GOOD!!! The focacchia (sp?) bread is DELICIOUS!!
I usually check out the overpriced gizmos at the Bang & Olufsen next door while I'm waiting

Haha. For some reason, the earbuds and headphones at Bang & Olufsen didn't impress me.. My Sennheiser HD560's are better
Pasadena's a really nice city. I used to drive there every Saturday for classes at Art Center. Plan to live there in the future...hopefully. Very classy city.

isnt that where they do the christmas tree lighting thing? kinda like a wannabe-rockefeller center?
the grove is a nice place to go for lunch since they have that farmers market. basically, its a big open outdoor food court with a bunch of different varieties of food. everything from gumbo to deli sandwiches to brazillian bbq. farmers market closes early so good spot for lunch.
I actually just came back from my first visit to So Cal this past week. I stayed in Fullerton and went to a pretty kickass bar called the Rockin' Taco. Very cool place and the piano bar kicks much arse!
Ohhh that Brazillian BBQ rocks I just wish they did'nt charge buy the pound I could eat a ton of the food they have their its great.
Yep Fullerton rocks as well. You should try Wahoo's fish tacos next time you go down there, good stuff
Liive in Pasadena, but don't really see Old Town as that big of a deal; just overpriced restaurants really. Maybe it's just too expensive for my student budget
Anyway, one of the things I LOVE doing (especially on a full moon) is going to the top of Mt. Wilson at night. You can stop on the north side for some peace and quiet, then go to the summit and look out over all of LA at night. It's fantastic (especially if you take a lady friend). The other thing that comes to mind is checking out the first McDonalds ever built - it's here in LA. Look it up online and you'll find it - classic architecture and everything.
Oh yeah - and Griffith Park isn't that bad of an idea either. It's home to the Hollywood sign, which is kind of cool (and illegal) to check out up close. I've got some pictures from when I went (click on "Griffith Park").
Oh yeah #2 - THE Batcave is actually around the Malibu area - I've always wanted to take a pic of my car parked in there...
