I have never been able to use the regular keyboard in a game. I HAVE to move everything to the numpad and ins/del rows and such.

that's wierd...here's my descent config from back in the day
numpad - pitch/roll/yaw (7 and 9 for roll)
arrows - slide up/down/left/right
h-forwards
n-back
space-fire primary
g-fire secondary
t, y - flare

I found that to be the easiest, better than the stock config.

Ahh you played kb? Ack. I use kb + joystick. Sidewinder 3D Pro was the best joystick ever. I used the twist function for rolling, all of aiming and shooting and strafing with the stick, and only used kb for forward/back, strafing left/right in order to tricord, and for switching weapons.
