Hey showed 4 or 5 hours of "Man Versus Wild" last night. I thought they took it down, because the host was a lier. Supposedly, he didn't do some of the things he said he did in the wilderness. I still like the survivor man better.

Man vs Wild kills survivor man. Survivor man is so boring and the home video feel is lame. Bear entertains!

See, that's what I'm talking about!

They might as well have a survivor show where someone wrestles a bear over a pot of honey.

Fox already picked it up before Discovery could get its hands on it.

Good. Looking forward to Season 3 start... I think it's going to be in the Sahara Desert.

I've seen Survivorman on a bunch since they stopped playing MvW re-runs, and I've sat through a couple episodes over the past few months, but damn is that show boring.

Survivorman is kinda lame. The guy has no charisma. The show in Labrador was stupid. He started with a dog sled, dogs, axe, sleeping bag and an entire survival kit.

Fake or not, I just like Bear more.

Why not? Just because he wasn't actually sleeping in a frozen hole, unrealistically gallups down mountains and gets soaking ass wet when unnecessary, doesn't make the actual survival tips and lessons any less true.

I like both shows.

I'm guessing because the premise of someone dog sledding in the boonies of Canada would realistically have those things. He also had a rifle but, as that episode showed, it didn't matter much because food was scarce and they all got trapped by the thaw anyway, needing to be airlifted out.

Bear's version would be him parachuting out of a wrecking plane and trying to survive with just the clothes on his back and a multi-tool.

Both shows give possible scenarios, but Survivorman's tend to be more likely.

It's still an entertaining show, and people will watch it evem if they know it's mostly a setup. That's not far off from reality television as a whole.

I still largely prefer Survivorman though.

I tend to like Survivorman since Les usually builds the more interesting shelters and talks a lot about little things that are "nice to know" about the surrounding environment.

I tend to like Man Vs Wild since Bear usually has the more exciting circumstances and direction, even if some things feel a little over the top.

If I'm stuck somewhere in the middle of winter, I want to know that getting wet or sweaty often means getting dead. Plus Survivorman is great for showing what kind of plants are edible for when meat isn't available, good thing for him since he's a crappy hunter/fisherman (see Alaska episode).

Les Stroud just strikes me as a guy more able to keep himself alive somewhere.

Survivor man has a little more realistic aproach. Man vs Wild although some what entertaining some of the survival tactics that he uses are questionable.

This clip made me lose a lot of respect for Bear, but I still think he's a badass. There are numerous other clips and photos of him faking his way through the show, but I suppose you can't believe everything you see on TV.

To be honest, the only times I've seen Bear getting soaked was a) jumping into a shallow stream to avoid overheating (well, rather to stress the points of overheating) and b) simulate how to get yourself warm and dry after falling in freezing water.

Other than that he's usually not being so ridiculous, except when he's leaping and bounding down and mountain or through a jungle.

Wow, I've never seen that before. That is pretty weak.

See here is the problem with reality TV. A show that tries to stay "real" ends up being less entertaining because real life isn't always as exciting as what the producers can make it.

I like Survivorman better because the man is there alone for 7 days, and even though they take measures to protect him, there were several occasions I have seen where he could have died, like when he got separated from his tail when he was adrift on the ocean.
