Now that is some serious air! :Q
Uh oh.
Ouch. *WARNING, visible blood*

--------------------------------------------------------------

These are the last moments of a daredevil who crashed to his death during a bid to leap the Great Wall of China on a bicycle.

Wang Jiaxiong managed to clear the ancient landmark after speeding down an 80-metre runway.

However, the stunt went horribly wrong as he lost control while he flew over the 30ft wall. Onlookers in Tianjin, in China's north-west Shaanxi province, gasped in horror as he came off the bike in mid air and plummeted head-first to the ground.

Stuntman Wang was carried away by paramedics but died from his injuries a short time later.

It was the first time anyone had cleared the 2000-year-old Great Wall on a bike. Chinese emperors built the 5000- mile-long barrier to keep out invaders.

The Great Wall, a World Heritagelisted site, is the only man-made structure visible from space.

Some sections were created during the time of the Ming Dynasty.

Emperor Qin Shihuand then joined these sections to keep out invading Huns and Mongols around 200 BC.

Had he been wearing enough safety equipment (think X-games motorcycle jumping gear) then he'd likely not be dead right now.

You can see that he landed on his head. Gear or no gear, he probably broke his face (bloody nose in pics) and broke his neck.

had he been wearing what those guys wear he may have still broken (if he did break it) his neck, but his face would have been protected by a full face helmet.

Actually according to other sites (do a search for Great Wall at news.google.com) he fractured his cranium. Had he been wearing a proper helmet he may have survived.

BZZT... thanks for playing, try again. Amazing how clueless some people who write news articles really are.

That guy sucks ass, get us a real down hill mountain biker or bmxer, not some wanna be stunt man. To be able to jump these things you can't just be any stunt man you have to specialize in biking to pull that stuff off.
