Man this thing is noisy

I just purchased a Thermaltake Volcano 6cu for a web server I am upgrading to an Athlon 1.2g. The stock fan on my Duron is noisy, so I figured adding a nice new fan would cut down the racket. I just plugged it in to test, and jeezus, this thing is like a hair dryer.:disgust:

I have the 6cu+ It's a beast.:disgust: It's the only fan in my system right now, and it's louder than the retail hsf on an xp1600+ with 2 sunon fans in my sister's computer. I have an svc gc68 on the way from case-mod.com. It has a 28dba 80mm 2500RPM fan on there, better than 39dba and a high pitched and whiny 7100RPM. Getting it for about what I would have paid for a 60mm to 80mm adapter to throw on the 6cu+.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. I had one of those on my 1.4 Thunderbird, and was once talking to someone on the phone when she asked me who was vaccuuming! I had to explain to her that it was my computer, which was across the room from where I was. This past Christmas I replaced it with an Alpha PAL 8045 heatsink and a Panaflo L1A fan, and have been extremely pleased. You can barely hear those things.

Mine's on the way also. It comes with free arctic alumina. Do you plan on using this stuff? I have no experience with it.

The good thing about artic alumina is that it wont dry out. ASII dries out after about three months, so you have to keep reapplying it. The temp difference between the two shouldn't be noticible.

I replaced 6Cu+ with volcano 7 after a month and sell the 6Cu+ at ebay

funny <<who was vaccuuming>>
also <<this thing is like a hair dryer>>

peace

wait a sec... ASII dries out??? oh dear, would that explain my nearly 10C temp increase???

sold it $11 on last december, I bought it $14 at newegg ,not bad i think
i bought it because i thougt the cooperbase and the 7200rpms can
push those temps down, it is ... but it's not worth to get your ear abused

peace

Total BS. BTW, I haven't noticed any temp differences on my 1 GHz T-Bird which was applied with ASII well over 6 months ago. Also, has it been proven that Artic Alumina DOESN"T dry out?
