What person would even remotely consider this thing over a Macbook Retina? I just don't understand the market for it. A $200 chromebook, yeah that I totally get. But $1000-$1300 for an otherwise bare bones web browser? Why bother?

If I had the cash laying around I would snatch this up in a hurry.

I will be in the market for a new notebook and this is looking like a very strong contender. With kubuntu on this my life would be perfect!

Google employees. Google has said they made the Pixel for themselves and developers. They're just letting the public buy it if they want it. I'm thinking about ordering one. The main thing I didn't like about the first Pixel was the crap battery life. This new one lasts 12 hours. It's this or the rMBP for me. I'm leaning towards the Pixel just because it's unique.

I wouldn't pay $1000 for a laptop that only has 32GB of storage. Dell XPS 13'' is a much better deal in the same price bracket.

To be fair, Chrome/Chrome OS has come a long way in what it can do. True Chrome Apps can be pretty capable. Heck, there is a full-fledged RAW Photo editor available, along with dedicated text editors and whatnot.

However, I am with you in that I would only consider ChromeOS on a cheaper system. I like the specs but it's just not enough capability, even if it has been extended thanks to continued development as of late.

I am considering it as a linux machine. I don't need a lot of storage. I like getting more height on the screen. I wish the screen were the size of my old Thinkpad t60 - lots of vertical.
