You are right...there is a difference in ping results. I am also getting packet loss from the subscriber site, generally about 10%. Ping times to the forums.*.* box are also slightly lower. I haven't pulled up the free site in a while and it is A LOT FASTER now than I remember it was when I paid for a subscription a month ago. In fact, it seems a little faster?

Bump to keep this active. Paying for lost packets doesn't make sense.

<------ Thinks 1000 PM is worth 30 bucks a year because he trades alot on the FS forum..

I purchased a whole lot of packets that got lost... but then again, I reformat so often that I lose a hell of a lot more data in that operation than I lost here in 2 years.

Whatcha gonna do with all them packets? Sell them? :)

I have all sorts of strange glitches happening now that there is the option to subscribe. They never happened before. Are they happening because of the changes, or are they to "encourage" people to subscribe? ;)

Hehe, Ok, I get your point. But I guess I toss a lot of money out the window, cause I spend WAY too much TIME browsing the forums and gettin nuttin done.. :) I bet my woman would pay 30 bucks a year just to get me away from the monitor for an extra hour a day.. LOL!

yeah, i'm getting 25% packet loss to subscriber and 0% packet loss to forums.

trace looks perfect, but pings are dropping packets for some reason.

i sampled some random routers with pings of 32-bytes in length and they come back clean, but when i ping the subscriber router that's when the packets start dropping.

there maybe something on the anandtech side???

There is no other explaination considering the fact that most of us are experiencing this, but not having problems with any other website, including the regular forums.

I'm curious if the server is giving ICMP packets a lower priority. This is entirely possible (some servers are configured to drop them altogether since they are unnecessary traffic). Is it noticeable when you're browsing the forums?
Either way it would be nice to see a confirmation of the problem and a pending solution or at least an explanation from them. I'm not a subscriber, and it's going to stay that way until this stuff is worked out...

My favorite feature is the Subscriber's Corner, where profanity, pornography, flaming, hacking, and death threats are all allowed. It's easily worth my $30 a year to download all those MP3's, warez, pr0n, and serialz.

You have violated the only rule in Subscriber's Corner. Now you can go sit in the dunce's corner. Goodbye.

Hehe. Beats me. I subscribe and I dunno wtf it is. Don't have many PM's either. I just liked being able to do full text searches, and the faster load times (and no occasional popups, rest of the ads don't bother me).

#1 rule of the Subscriber's Corner is never talk about the Subscriber's Corner. ;)
