I'm going to lose all respect for The Crocodile Hunter. Exactly how tough can crocs and gators be if one can't even kill a shar-pei before being chased off with a pocketknife?

Good for the guy and the dog, but I feel bad about the gator. Kind of sucks to get stabbed in the eye and it didn't know any better.

Captain Sigurdur Petursson, known to locals as "the Iceman", ran into the shallow water and grabbed the shark by its tail. He dragged it off to dry land and killed it with his knife.

I can truthfully say that I consider my dog to be another human being, and because of this I'd do whatever I could to rescue her. I don't know if I'd jump into a pond and stab the gator in the eye, but I'd certainly have unloaded my pistol into the gator.

That's really sad. No matter how much you love your dog, your dog is NOT a human being. Sad to see how low the value of human life has sunk.

That's just inserting BS politics in a thread that has nothing to do with it. I'm a Democrat and I think that is a friggin cool story. So, bye now.

Anyone who isn't willing to make such a sacrifice for their pet, shouldn't have a pet. Props to the badasses, and shame on those so self-absorbed not to place any value on a beloved pet.

Why? Dogs are inherently innocent just like babies and kids unless taught to be mean. Most people become mean and worthless on their own volition.

Or perhaps the value of canine life has risen for some - but obviously not you.

What can a gator do to you if it has a mouth full of dog? Give you stink eye?

Happened in Gainesville, home of the Florida Gators. Funny thing is, if he wasn't so lucky and the gator got him, you'd all be nominating him for a Darwin Award. :)

The difference between heroism and stupidity is often this little thing called "success".
