The brain is nothing like what you would think after watching people get shot in the head in movies. If you cut your head CLEANLY down the middle (front to back) down to a little above your eyeballs and didn't die from bloodloss, the brain damage wouldn't kill you. It would, however, let you perform some cool tricks, such as being able to simultaneously draw a "U" with one hand and a "C" with the other, or a square with one and a circle with the other (try these 😉).

If the damage is localized to the frontal lobe ONLY, your decision making will be seriously impaired. You become impulsive, and basically stop thinking things through and planning ahead. This page has some good images of a guy named Phineas Gage. He was working on a railroad when a solid metal bar about 1" wide was launched through his skull due to an accident while blasting.

Other parts of the brain are responsible for speech, or movement, or touch. If these are damaged, you won't necessarily die, but may become unable to speak, or move certain parts of your body or feel aything from parts of your body.

Basically, having a bullet/knife/screwdriver in your head is not necessarily going to make you keel over instantly dead, unless certain parts of your brain get damaged.

Do it fast? Or do you have to conciously think about it? When you draw the circle, are you kinda drawing it one fourth at a time as you draw the square?

Ok, I did it again on the whiteboard in my office. I did it as fast as I could. I can draw it where one fourth at a time, but I can also draw the square really fast, the circle slower, vice versa, or all the same speed.
