I've been playing rtcw lately, and I have to admit, as high hopes as I had for it, it really does suck. The gfx are nothing special. Sound fx are a joke. Music is boring and repetitive. Level design is idiotic. (I have a great idea, lets make doors towards the beginning of the level that can only be opened on the other side. Then lets let the player get to the middle of the level, only to go through a door that brings him back to the start! And lets not let him go back through!) The weapons are the worst though. They spray wildly, its impossible to snipe with the stupid mauser, the snooper...wtf? How are you supposed to see a god damn thing with it? And my personal favorite, the sten. A SMG that OVERHEATS! Theres a reason why most other games dont have overheating guns, because its ANNOYING. Not to mention you walk like a snail with a machine gun. I mean wow, so much potential, and it was just wasted by idiotic design. I'm trying to convince myself its worth finishing it, but I'm really being stretched.

But then I tried MOHAA multiplayer demo. Now thats some fun sh*t. The weapons are ALL useful, even though the rockets are kinda cheap. You dont run at 50mph, and you can lean around corners and shoot. The GFX are pretty sweet too, and the Sound fx are on target. It just feels right. rtcw feels like crap.

Its called being realistic. You arent supposed to be able to run with a heavy machine gun with 1500 rounds.

MOHAA ???

I agree though with RTCW, its silly to be able to constantly run faster than a car on a highway.

THe MOH demo is out, and I was not impressed with it at all. JAFPS (Just Another First Person Shooter). While the single player game in RtCW is not groundbreaking, I would disagree with alot of your points. Overheating weapons is realistic. You have to actually use your head when you employ them. Maybe that isnt for everyone.

The level design is pretty clever, IMO. I like how you can double back. Sometimes I leave health and ammo in the early stages behind, they make a nice treat when you return. I've never come through one of the doors you are mentioning and not been able to open it again. Maybe you need more practise opening doors.

For you to say that the graphics are nothing special is especially funny. You probably don't have a decent enough rig to push out what the game is capable of, either that or you live on the planet Bizzaro and don't know good graphics when you see them. The graphics are hands down the best I've seen anywhere. Even people who don't like the game will conceed that.

I would agree with you about the music. It is pretty repetitive.

I'm also really enjoying the multiplayer. I find most of the guys who complain about it are upset because it isnt like Counter Strike. Thank god for that.

RTCW has bad graphics? Umm...no! Perhaps you have screwed around with your settings, or didn't bother to at all, but this is the best looking FPS I have ever seen...I have a P4 @1.7, and a Geforce 3, and I just tried the MOHAA demo.....which does not look as good even though I have the same graphics settings on both.

I think the following is going to happen with these two games...

MOHAA is more like counter-strike, which I hate, but I happen to be in the minority, so this game will have lots of people playing it...I am not saying I don't like the demo, in fact, the music and menus are fantastic, the weapons are pretty good, but boy do you move around slowly, and for that reason I prefer the pace of RTCW.

I really don't see what all the complaining about RTCW is about....I only get an hour or so each day to play, but I enjoy both the single and multiplayer versions...good fun!

I don't consider myself a FPS player. I tried Quake UT and HL and I didn't like any of them. Then RTCW came out and I thought I would give FPS one more try. WOW.....I am totally sleep deprived and hooked on RTCW. The single player is only worth while for the graphics but the multiplayer mode action is fantastic! I am gonna try MOHAA just for the sake of knowing....but RTCW turned me into a hardcore FPS player..... unfortunately ;)

I've got a GF3 and a 1+ Ghz system like everyone else here. There is absolutely nothing special about the gfx in rtcw. Its the same old quake engine, with a little fog oooh.

I know mohaa is the q3 engine too, but it just seems of a higher quality. I mean come on, look at the thompson and mp40 in rtcw, and then look at the same weapons in mohaa. World of difference.

I'm sick of DOD and CS, and I cant wait until the full mohaa comes out.

you judge the graphics by how the gun looks?

Get real.

Yeah, I definitely like the leaning option in RTCW... just wish you could fire like in Ghost Recon...
if you wanted realistic, that's something you should definitely try... not someone just needs to make an "Kill Osama in the cave complex" scenario for GR =]

RTCW is more like "Action Quake" than CS...

I just got done playing the MOH::AA demo for the first time

Its definately more fun that Wolf IMO. I like the feel of it, more realistic, more gritty. Wolf MP is fun, but I haven't gotten into it that much.

RTCW multiplayer is awesome, you should all try out the demo if you haven't. I just played MOHAA multiplayer and i thought it sucked, hopefully the single player game is better.
