COLUMBUS, Ohio The FBI said it anticipates charges to be filed against a man in connection with a downtown bank robbery.
The robbery occurred Wednesday at the Key Bank, located at 88 East Broad St.
According to the FBI, a man carrying several papers walked inside the building at about 1:30 p.m. and told a teller he was there to rob the bank. Although the man did not appear to have a weapon, the teller handed over cash and a dye pack.
Witnesses said they saw the man leave in a black-colored Jeep Cherokee that was being driven by another person. As the Jeep drove away, red smoke started pouring from the vehicle, indicating the dye pack had exploded.
Witnesses said they watched as someone inside tossed the dye pack out a window.
Authorities later arrived at the bank and sifted through the stack of papers that were left behind by the robber. Inside the stack was an envelope with a name and a Brehl Avenue address, the FBI said.
Police went to the Hilltop-area home and spoke with people, who said the man in question had left the home a short time earlier. He was later tracked down at a motel, where he was taken into custody and questioned about the robbery.
The FBI said it anticipates charges to be filed against him.
His name was not immediately released by authorities.
