A California man was arrested, accused of pulling a gun on a girl selling cookies door-to-door according to officials in Temecula, north of San Diego.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise says deputies responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon shortly before noon Sunday.

Riverside County sheriff's officials told the paper they arrested the man and seized the gun for evidence.

The newspaper says the girl was going from house to house when she knocked on John M. Dodrill's door. Police say the 59-year-old Dodrill is accused of opening the door and pointing a gun at the girl.

The girl's father witnessed the incident and called the police.

Dodrill was taken into custody without incident, officials told the paper.

Jail records show his bail was set at $25,000.
I thought guns were supposed to make for a more polite society? :whiste:

This so styled "cookie seller" was clearly a scout for a home invasion. It would have been a good shoot if he went ahead; a lesser man would have feared for his life.

The police grabbed that asshole's gun thankfully.

<--Gun owner

Yeah, but you are a guilty gun owner 🙂

Anyway, guy is obviously nuts. The majority of gun owners are reasonable but there is a very small percentage who I think are chomping at the bit to use their gun in a self-defense incident because it's a legal reason to be bad ass and shoot somebody.

What I get out of this is that a guy pointed a gun at a girl scout who rang his doorbell. What am I missing?

I kind of wonder about that. Everyone who commits a crime for the first time is a law-abiding citizen up to that point. Who defines reasonable anyway?

I'm sure the majority of law-abiding gun owners are reasonable but gun laws in this country are still fucked.

aren't most crimes committed by repeat offenders?

considering there are 300 million firearms and ~100 million owners, if you assume that every violent crime (~1.2M) were the result of a firearm (obviously erroneous, but just to illustrate the point), that would make it a 1% violent crime commission rate, and 99% non-commission. ergo, not just the majority, but the vast majority of gun owners are reasonable people

Totally justified, that little girl could have been a ninja assassin and those 'cookies' could have been ninja stars. He just "stood his ground" 😀

It does, but only if every adult carries them and everybody knows it.

Also, knowing SoCa news its possible the girl lied and/or they got the story wrong.

Its possible she saw the gun a bookshelf or in a holster on his hip. She freaked because she's a giant coward like most californians and cried to mommy and mommy called the cops.

If nothing else this kind of story will get law abiding gun owners to think before they pull their gun... hopefully.

The gun should be a last resort. Not something that emboldens you to pursue someone you think is suspicious or to pull over and engage in a road rage incident.

If you don't read the OP's post and source what is the point of a post about it.

Yeah, "girl scout". Can anyone validate this "girl" was indeed part of a girl scout troop? I think not.

Also, why was the father with her? I bet to ensure the home owner did NOT have a gun, and then rush the door to rob and kill this patriot.

Unbeleivable. Now, they are posing as girl scouts.

1st the gays take over the Boy Scouts and now the urban hoods take over the Girls Scouts to use as actual scouts for home invasions,...

^ This

I've never answered the door with a gun in my hand. Though I have thought about it after the second or third time of answering the door to tell the Jehovah's Witness representatives I was not interested.
