What a load of BS. If you're trapped in your car in a avalanche, there is no way you can pee pointing up, with enough force to melt a significant amount of snow above you. Another thing, if he's supposedly trapped in his car, how does he get out of his car to whip out his hog? Is there mysteriously a vast open space for him to stand in, drink beer, and pee pointing up? This is BS people.

To be fair, he thought of the idea before he got drunk. Getting drunk was just a nice side effect to the plan.

It's a wonder he didn't get alcohol poisoning or just pass out. I wonder how long he was at it.

He was trapped for 4 days it said.
If this was over 4 days, it's fine. 15 beers a day isn't bad, especially since beer has carbs that the body can use for fuel.

He's lucky that worked. If he hadn't peed his way out, he'd probably die much sooner from dehydration due to all the beer he drank.

umm he was burried in snow. he had plenty of water around.

Eating snow causes dehydration.

hypothermia I can believe, but I fail to see how eating solid water causes dehydration.

He said: "I was scooping the snow from above me and packing it down below the window, and then I peed on it to melt it.

..and he could open the cars windows.

While it's certainly likely that this is indeed BS, your reasoning doesn't make any sense. First, he could open the window. Second, by peeing on the snow outside his window, it melts it and everyone knows that water takes up a lot less space than snow, so the melted snow sinks down below the window and creates empty space. Then, by digging at the snow above this empty space, it falls down, gets peed on some more, melts and runs down, creates more space, etc.
I'm not saying it actually happened, only that it conceivably could have.

As far as pouring the beer, I'm assuming it wouldn't be nearly as warm as the other method, so it would be less effective.

Yeah, wtf, that doesn't make any sense at all. Eating water is not going to cause dehydration.

That's nearly 90 341ml bottles of beer. Most I've ever drank (in a 16hr period) is 35 bottles. I passed out and slept through a horrendous thunderstorm. I woke up in a four inch puddle.

C'mon, let's get serious. How does a person able to pee outside from inside a vehicle? How does he get enough force to melt the snow significantly? He'll make some yellow holes in snow, that's about all.

60 beers is a lot of pee. Have you ever peed in the snow? It melts pretty fast and all you really need is to make some space so you can start digging without the snow filling up your car.

Maybe the beer was in a cooler on ice.
