The guy who started Ginsu knives was on Letterman many years ago. He got his start as a huckster by placing ads in the local paper "Engraved presidential portraits - $1". When they sent their dollar, he sent them a penny. Because the money lost was so low, nobody ever really complained and he eventually gathered enough money to start Ginsu.
 
You guys thinking the seller was right and this 'kind of thing 100 years' ago was fine, should read the Jungle by Sinclair. Sadly, it's what most of your families would be living today.
 
No reasonable person would pay 500 dollars for a photo. So the guy does not live on the internet like we do or was not born a cynic. Does not make him an idiot. It is an obvious scam and had malicious intent.
 
Scam. File complaint through Paypal, get money back, end of story.
This scam is as old as the internet (eBay, '96).
