You don't think shipping a rifle to a wrong person is a big deal? Especially when the guy was expecting a TV and the rifle is only supposed to be shipped to restricted/licenced locations?

Well, the one problem is that now it's been illegally shipped to him and for it to be shipped back (legally at least) the guy would have to make arrangements with someone with the appropriate licenses. That would involve more fees and so forth. I wouldn't want to get involved any more in something like that myself. The second I found out that such a legally entwining cockup happened, I'd do what I could to wash my hands of it.

He's no pussy!

He is simply setting up the massive lawsuit he is going to file against Amazon, Sig Sauer, UPS and anyone else he can think of.

He certainly has a case for trauma, and emotional distress. Shit, if he plays his cards right he will get a diagnosis of PTSD and never have to work another day in his life. 🙄
 
I don't know what I'd do... I'd def would wanna keep it but there's sure to be many laws broken by doing so. I wouldn't want to lose $300 for turning the gun in to get seized either. What would yall do?

Can't you trace the gun to the sender using the serial number or something?

It's been a while since I've done it, but when you purchase a firearm through the mail, it has to be shipped between valid FFL holders. So there is supposed to be a document chain here where the seller's FFL recieves and validates the receiver's FFL and then the transfer goes ahead. So unless the whole deal has been completely mishandled, the seller is going to have documentation on what they sold and who it was to be sent to, or at least meant to. Basically, the rifle should never have been sent out unless there was a documented deal on file. So if anyone received the shipment by mistake, then I think there is a good chance that it could eventually get back to them when the shipper starts auditing what they sold and sent. Or if not the shipper, the ATF could easily start looking through the books and might connect the dots.
 
Wait, you can own an easy-to-conceal semiautomatic handgun in DC, but not a hard-to-hide semiautomatic rifle? Weird.
