As I thought. It's not like this was some unlikely scenario. Kinda silly to assume that the man was obeying and perpetuate that with your thread title, isn't it? "ZOMG! Cops just can't wait to tase people unjustifiably!!!111one"

You mean i cant rage at a short video without context? Man...this sucks.

Just look at the video though.. no resistance. It did look damning didn't it but if we weren't so open minded, would I have posted the link with the rebuttal in my own thread?

The guy had just done the same thing before.

The Officer grabbed Mr. Cansler’s right wrist and held him against the driver’s side door of the cruiser while Mr. Cansler locked his elbows to prevent the officer from arresting him.
At 2:02:51 p.m., the officer called for a backup officer via his police radio while trying to hold Mr. Cansler against the cruiser.
The officer then ordered Mr. Cansler to move his hands behind his back. He did not comply with the lawful order and kept his arms locked out (stiff) on the cruiser.
Mr. Cansler kept his arms locked and used his body to push back against the officer, assaulting the officer, and actively resisting a lawful arrest.
The officer then tactically created distance from Mr. Cansler by holding him with one arm and then removed his ECW from thigh holster on his left leg. At this time the officer made the decision not to escalate the resistance into a hands-on fight with Mr. Cansler.
After drawing his ECW, the officer backed away from Mr. Cansler and had his ECW pointed at Mr. Cansler’s back and ordered him to put his hands behind his back in order to be handcuffed.
Mr. Cansler again refused the lawful commands to place his hands behind his back and made a forward movement with his hands at which time the officer deployed his ECW to gain control of Mr. Cansler. The officer could not see where Mr. Cansler’s hands were going and had reasonable fear that Mr. Cansler was again reaching into his pocket for the knife.
At 2:03:30 p.m. the ECW was deployed for one five second cycle, which caused Mr. Cansler to fall to the ground.

Sounds like the guy did not want to put his hands behind his back to stop the cop from putting handcuffs on him. He was non-violently resisting. How would you have gotten the guy to comply?

When I first watched the video I thought the cop was wrong. Then I read the full story and now I think the guy is wrong. Unless the cops lied, which has happened before, tazing was the right thing to do.

There is a reason the video starts JUST BEFORE he gets tased. You can't possibly conclude that there was "no resistance" from the video. There is another video showing him continue to resist after being tased. Why are you so sure he wasn't resisting before being tased?! Putting your hands on the vehicle when told to do something else is NOT complying.

Being "open minded" means being able to watch the video without jumping to the conclusions they wanted you to jump to in the first place. Once again: It was kind of silly to assume that before perpetuating it, right? Next time you want to share, make sure to say that it was a claim. Keep your options open.

"Bystanders claim man doesn't resist arrest, obeys cop, cop tases him anyway!"

MUCH better. We wouldn't be having this conversation and you wouldn't have your foot in your mouth if you had done the responsible thing.

It's just like clock boy and balloon boy and Mike Brown and Trayvon Martin and on and on and on. Bombastic CLAIMS always beat the truth to the market and spread farther than the stories where the truth was obvious from the get-go, yet people act like they are skeptics when it comes to new information.

This is how the truth is usually received with it contrasts with the more inflammatory assumption about events:
"Oh! Now they claim something else happened. Nice try, cops! We won't let you change the story!"

A true skeptic questions the first story just the same.

I bet cop dick tastes great.

Perfectly echoes my sentiments as well.

I bet cop dick tastes great.
I bet gullibility taste great.
I bet willful ignorance taste great.

It's the only reason so many can fall for this crap repeatedly and not be ashamed enough to stop doing it.

Except that you still said "no resistance" while this reasonable gentleman said it looks "He was non-violently resisting." Stop coloring the details with assumptions.

And let's not forget that he had a knife. "Non-violently resisting" and refusing to keep your hands where the officer tells you to keep them is not as cute when you have a visible knife.
