He'd reach it quickly enough that it doesn't make much difference. 32 ft/s^2 = ~22 mph/s

Interesting that the article mentions a house with a damaged roof. Figure 160 lbs moving 120 mph, that's a lot of kinetic energy for the roof to deflect.

It's quite clear in the article that he wasn't supposed to have a chute, thus it was obviously suicide.

I wonder why they couldn't have done that to help the guy out had he truly forgotten his parachute. There were three others (well, two minus the student) with chutes, right?

the stunt was done with an extra harness they attached when that dud was riding him, you cannot hold on to someone and open a chute, no ones that strong

I think he probably would have passed out before he hit teh ground....that would be my guess.
