why do the mods continue to let the OP post like this?

He knows how to spell, he knows proper English. The only thing I can assume is he is trying to offend as many people as possible while insulting a large minority population.

tbh, that doesn't both me as much as his choice of avatar--A child afflicted with a truly horrible disease.

What amazes me is that there is SO many hard working people out there busting their arse owning/failing at restaurants/food business........and this prick gets to be rich.

But it's life, never was and never will be fair.

People like Jamie Oliver don't get to where they are without busting their asses.

man his food doesnt even look that great. i thought he sorta failed here in america but apparently he know how to make bank:

Oliver worked in a "gastro" pub since he was a kid (his dad owned one) and I know I'd rather cook his type of food at home rather than try to replicate the overly complicated stuff that professional high end restaurants produce.

Olivers also popular because he changed the way cooking programs in the UK were made. Before him they were either food porn shows showing stuff that no one was ever going to try to make or they were pretty twee. Oliver sort of bloked it up and showed that a feeling for food and ingredients was way more important than being able to slavishly follow a recipe. He taught you to cook rather than to just read a list of instructions.

I've got a lot of respect for the guy (and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall).

I assure you Jamie's gastro pub is not on the same level as the places Gordon has worked at. Gordon might be a prick, but he earned the right to be one. Even if he didn't make it big, just because he survived in the kitchens he has, he would still have the right.

I never found him "impressive" but I'm sure his everyman approach has its appeal. That said, I hadn't seen him in a while so I watched some of his videos...a stylist and a tan will do wonders for your marketing. He looks a lot better than he used to and his on-screen presence and personality seems to have changed a bit too.

What difference does that make?

Olivers food and techniques are far better suited to teaching people how to cook at home.

No one has the right to be a prick. That said, I don't think that Ramsey is quite the prick that he portraits on TV.

Because you're comparing a line cook in a pub to a professional chef in a real kitchen. People not in the industry wouldn't understand. But it's like comparing a CPA to the guy that does your taxes at HR Block.

Yes, Jamie's style is better for home cooks. No arguement there.

I heard Gordon is actually a nice guy outside of his own kitchens/tv, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was an even bigger prick in his own kitchens. He was just trained in that era and under those famous chefs that got in your face like a marine drill sergeant if you screwed up.

Gordon does a line of shows on youtube. they are great. they are easy to understand and do. I hate him on TV but these shorts are great.

His Ultimate Cooking Course breaks down every step of the process. Even a donkey could follow him.

Sometimes he's an asshole, and he makes money by being that way. Off camera he seems like a pretty good guy, though pretty immature.

I like angry gordon 🙁

I'm still not seeing why that makes a difference for a TV cook.

Which is more important when we are talking about teaching people to cook at home.

He's a TV entertainer as much as a restaurateur now so he needs to be 'entertaining'. Being a prick is fairly entertaining.

He's very wealthy, but the $450 million number is pure BS.
Yeah, it's probably the sum of the 'Jamie Oliver' brand, in the same way that a rock band might make xxx million dollars but only actually see xx million dollars.

The poor, hard done by dears. How do they cope?
