Man, I've got a bad-arse algae eater in my aquarium

So we have some weird bread of brown fish that's an "algae eater", he's keeping the tank nice and clean, but evidently there's not enough algae b/c he ate a good section of a red-cap oranda's tail! I caught him sucking on the side of the oranda near his eye yesterday and figured it was time to teach the evil monster a lesson. What do you suggest?


(In all seriousness, I just moved the damaged Oranda to a different tank so he can at least grow old and die in peace. he's been swimming really slow for the last 5 months, so he must be coming to the end of his life span)

fry it on high for 5-8 minutes with garlic, butter, and a dash of your choice of hot pepper.

beer batter the bastard and drop him into a pot of hot oil! yum yum, beer battered algae eater!

Or you could just drop in some bottom feeder pellets so he has something to eat instead of your other fish.

The weird thing is I've been feeding him algae pellets at least twice a week, and I've been feeding my goldfish w/ a mix of floating and sinking food, so he should be getting lots to eat already.

The beer batter sounds like a good suggestion. He's only 3 inches at the moment though.

Algae eaters are annoying. they don't mix well with slow whimpy fish like gold fish. keep them along with more active agressive fish

It's probably a Chinese Algae eater. When they get big they will eat the slime off of other fish.

He's eating more than slime.

But yeah, the Oranda he was munching was getting pretty slow already. He's probably 5 years old, so I suppose his time has come anyway.

What the hell is an arse algae eater, and if it's so bad at it why don't you get a new one?

Honestly, if I had arse algae so bad that I needed to get something to eat it, I think I would just take a shower instead.
