Most major cities in TX are land locked. Every major beautiful cities should have water nearby (SF, LA, Bos, NY, Vancouver).
I'm not sure how cosmopolitan Dallas is. I drove by it. But you can't beat above 5 cities for their amazing Asian food, which I need as an Asian. Also you can't snowboard in TX.

And during the summer you'll have 2 months of 100+ degree heat and drought while it will still be in the mid 70s to mid 80s here.
