Man is arrested in prostitution sting

A Bonita Springs man offered two cents to an undercover officer in exchange for sex.

The man was one of 10 arrested during an undercover prostitution sting in Bonita Springs Thursday night, the Lee County Sheriff?s Office reported.

Members of the Bonita Springs Community Policing Unit and Lee County Sheriff?s Office Anti-Crime Unit assisted in the operation, the report said.

The focus of the operation was to locate males searching for female prostitutes that are soliciting money in exchange for sex, according to the Sheriff?s Office.

Four of the arrests were made along Old US 41 and Rosemary, while the remaining six were made along Old US 41 and Crockett Street.

The men negotiated the price for intercourse ranging from the 2 cents offered by transient Fausino Hernandez-Diaz, 46, up to $300 offered by Arturo Preza, 25, of Bonita Springs.

I like watching prostitution stings on COPS - but the one thing I never understand is that they always pull up to the suspect's car and do the full felony stop - guns drawn, guy thrown on the ground and cuffed, etc. Seems kinda excessive for solicitation...
