It happened in my town, Berkeley CA. Maybe 8 months ago (?) guy in a MAGA hat was punched on the UC Berkeley campus. It was all over the news and Trump made a big deal out of it, publically thrashing CA, Berkeley, whatever because of the incident. He even invited the "victim" to the White House, IIRC for photo ops... saw it on TV. UC Berkeley officials made statements to the effect that freedom of expression was sacred there, etc.

But I'll tell ya, if you're going around wearing a MAGA hat in Berkeley you are definitely, um, I won't say "asking for it" (maybe I should) but you better be ready to fend for yourself. In fact I'd say if you walked the streets for a week, you'd probably have a black eye by the end, at the very least. People are really pissed by what's been going on and MAGA people (Trumpsters) are just AFAIK, either not here or absolutely STFU.

How about we start marketing red trucker hats that say:

MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN
BY GETTING RID OF TRUMP
*Proceeds from the sale of this hat support a legal fund for immigrant families.

Well, getting rid of Trump won't make America great, but it will be way way way better.

You’re not going to find many Trump supporters in Hermosa Beach.

I am guessing an anti-Trump person wore the hat as a joke and another anti-Trump person didn’t get the joke.

"Not many" probably means like 20%. Your theory is a plausible one but it's hard to say what the motive was at this point.
