Oh man the wiring in the roof of the apartment building I live in caught on fire roughly an hour and half ago tonight. I started smelling something burning like wood and got the case manager on staff to inform her, but we didn't see any smoke and shortly after I returned I started coughing and had eyes watering. Then I heard the sirens.😱

Well I fortunately this that the building didn't catch fire, only a bit of smoke. A \thank you to the fire department for a the work they did.

We have smoke detectors and I heard a bunch of them loudly beeping shortly when I left. I think I'm going to ask the handyman to check mine and the battery.

At first I was thinking that I really need to clean my computer due to it smelling like dust heating up. But then my crib begin smelling like someone burning burning wood outside.

True story. back when I first moved in here back in 2013 I notice wood smoke orders and saw some crazy dude building a small fire, so I quickly got a case manager and they put it out and sent him over to Kettler the local psych ward and that is the last time I saw the dude.

Outside close by the other building next to an empty lot. I quickly got a hold of a case manager and they took care of it.

yup..sounds like that building might be a ticking time bomb....either move or max out your renter's insurance...
Well they are having people looking at the problem. And they are HUD supported apartments. Thanks I am thinking about getting Renter Insurance, what is involved in obtaining that and how much should I get?

The most expensive item I have is of course my computer. But would be to replace others items as well. Such as clothes and my bed.

you can start by calling whoever has your car insurance to see if they offer any type of bundle discounts for having two policies with them. The amount of coverage depends on how much stuff you want covered...probably should create a list of your stuff (clothes, kitchen stuff, electronics, etc) and how much it could cost to replace those items if you lost everything...also get separate quotes from other insurances companies just to get an idea of that the going rates are to make sure you are getting a good deal...

I don't own a car.

get quotes from various insurance agencies then....allstate, state farm, etc...ask friends to see if they are happy with their insurance companies...
I wonder due to what happen last Friday evening if they will quote me a higher price?

they will use some database that will generate the quotes for them...not sure how long those databases will take to reflect what happened..days? weeks? months? you better start calling now 🙂

Oh man another client tried to set his apartment on fire around 4:00 PM. The PD and FD managed to get him out by throwing in a pepper spray grenade to keep from destroying the building.

I was just going to get my meds for dinner and the guy who lived in the unit next to other client told what was going on. Couldn't believe my eyes, he had a can of WD-40 and lighter attempting to a sofa on fire.

It seems you live with a bunch of nut cases.

Move.

Somewhere with no shared walls sounds like a good start, yikes. It's one thing dealing with bad electrical or other stuff like that but when you have people literally trying to burn the place down that's quite nuts.

Somewhere with fewer lunatics and arsonist would be a good start.
Well the police took care of the lunatic arsonist. Usually there isn't any trouble here, and police officers have night shift here sitting right outside my apartment.

Well when I dad moves to his childhood small town I could move with him. However the town doesn't have bus service or even a grocery store, and certainly no social services what so ever. Besides Tennessee would be a good fit for me.

Sorry, I thought you were an adult living on his own...
