I was dead set today on getting up and riding 10 miles. It has been 6 months since I even road my bike -- not even exercised on it -- but I thought 10 at a slow to medium pace would be doable. WRONG. 4.5 miles later and I'm ruined. Legs feel like I just ran about 70 flights of stairs, and I'd have a hard time running from a paraplegic axe-murderer at this point. I think I went at too much of a pace, but I don't know that I could have done 10 with my life on the line, either. Note to self: start slower next time.
I will say this -- Niki Air Dri apparel really works. It keeps you cool and dry and that helps prevent chafing and rashes. Kicking it to tunes out of my Ipod Nano just sealed the deal. I'm worn out, but if I can keep this up 4-5 days a week I might just be able to get in shape for the first time in 5 years.
