I keep caffeine pills handy too. Quite cheap, as you say, and way more portable than coffee. I dice the things up though - 50mg is my preferred dosage. Much more and I get so damned jittery I can hardly do anything useful. That probably comes from getting almost completely weaned off of it.

Heh, nice to see someone else who does that. I just use the 200mg doses though, I'm way too caffeine resistant, it's practically the minimum I need to feel anything.
I'm at the point where I can pop a caffeine pill, and then have a restful nap.

I guess I must be addicted. On the mornings when I don't run, I find I need 16 oz of coffee to stay alert. Even when I do go for a run, that only keeps me awake until lunch, and then I need at least 8 oz to make it through the afternoon.

On the few days I've been brave enough to go without, I've never had headaches or nausea, but I have found myself falling asleep at my desk LOL.

Oh, and I always drink it black, the way it should be.

When I'm sitting around all day in front of a computer, caffeine is about the only thing that keeps me productive.

I work about 3-5x as fast if I drink a coke or coffee every hour.

I love a good tasting cup of bean, but usually I find that more than a cup or two and it bothers my stomach. I get pretty amped up on a cup of coffee (like it strong). I probably only drink it about 4-5 times per month on average.

I tend to avoid soda unless it's natural, and most of the time it has no caffeine.

I found an alternative source for caffeine that seems way better for me. It's known as Yerba Mate, and it is actually more popular than coffee world wide. The caffeine present in this tea is of a different form, and there is actually scientific debate on whether it should be named something else. It gives me the energy, but without quite as much of a 'jittery' feeling...a bit more mellow, but definately effective. Another great advantage is that Mate contains many nutrients and is loaded with antioxidants.

I love coffee though...I even have a coffee plant growing in my sunroom. Hopefully I will get some beans from it one day.
