Man, I feel like a wuss......

I am a music fiend. I am very open minded about any and all music. It just so happens that I think that most music nowadays sucks(Boy Bands, Britney Spears, Limp Bizkit, etc). I mostly listen to things like old metallica, old sepultura, Fear Factory, and tool. I also really like things like Portishead and some Moby. Last week I just happened to listen to the radio and heard "Thank You" by Dido. That girl can really sing(the music is the greatest but her voice makes up for that fact). I actually like most of her album which is a big change from what I usually listen to. Makes me feel all wussy 🙂

How many other metal heads actually like Dido? Or am I the only one?

Jim

I'm a metal head and I like Macy Gray.

Dido is ok - I agree that she can sing, but not my type of music.

I like Dido, but then again I like a lot of stuff. Boy bands, Metallica, Godsmack, Linkin Park, country, Britney... I've got quite a variety.

😀

one of my favorite songs is 'this i promise you', nsync.

i guess it takes losing someone close to get you to overlook the stereotypes.

Thanks axelfox, you contribute so much to conversations 😛

I say this as I listen to Prong "Snap your head, snap your fingers"

I listen to lots of Metal and Punk but other stuff from that dont get my attention well maybe Incubus.

Well Incubus has been around for a long time and I think that the Science album is awesome but I don't care for their other albums.

Jim

damn... we got LOTS of wussies here. heh heh

Viper GTS
when I read "I like Dido" I actually thought you said "I like Di!do"
:Q😀😱

Actually I like alot of Incubus songs the science album was good some of the songs on Make Yourself I like.Other than that I haven't heard other music mostly listen to AFI,Cold and some other bands lately.

Variety is the spice of life. I picked up a couple of Rage Against the Machine CDs yesterday, along with Jewel: Pieces of You.

you cannot listen to tool and also listen to dido... it is simply not allowed. To listen to dido is to abandon all that is good... do not let the bubblgum music tempt you... hold fast my friend, go back to undertow and drown yourself in its reality.

"I don't want it... I just need it... to breath, to feel, to know I'm ALIVE!""

If you think you are a wuss because of the music you listen to, if you are insecure about liking a genre of music, you need to grow up.

I like stuff like Tool, Slipknot, Godsmack, System of a Down.

Also in my Cd collection is Jewel (used to love her stuff), Macy Gray, as well as Enya, and Celtic Stuff.

I just happen to like a wide variety of music. Occasionally at work I'll throw in some Opera just because I feel like it.

Deeko you produce just the type of music I think is crap........

My issue is not the actual type of music but more so the quality that is usually done in certain types of music.

GrInNer, I really know you don't mean that because if you really liked tool then you would think for yourself and like what you like regardless of what type of music it is.

I do like what I like. I would have liked Dido regardless if everyone said I was a wuss. My point was the fact that compared to everything else I listen to Dido makes me feel all soft inside 🙂

<< um, if i recall, tool sings that take picture song. >>

Say what??

I believe you're thinking of Filter.

<< Deeko you produce just the type of music I think is crap........ >>

So? That's my point. People like you may hate my music, but that doesn't stop me from liking it. I like music because I like it, if someone has a problem with that, well, it's their problem, not mine.

You know slipperyslope, you have a good point. I just find it difficult to believe that a person can in one hand listen to a genre that provides such depth, and then surrender to overproduction / techno pop / bubblegum. Perhaps I was only expressing my disappointment with the quality of music these days, but in the end, you are right. To each his own.

GrInNer,

You hit the nail on the head. BUT one of the reasons I am amazed by Dido is the fact that her voice is not overproduced or really enhanced in any way that I can tell. When I listen to Britney Spears and others like her, I can hear the difference.

Tool happens to be my favorite band because they are a perfect mesh of very talented voice and music.

In this day and age anyone can "sing". I sure as hell can't sing like Dido by myself but give me the right tools and I can sing just as well as any guy in a boy band.

Instead of having talent, alot of musicians rely on computers and sound people to make them into stars. I prefer natural talent. That is just my preference.

Deeko....I am not trying to trash you. You have alot of guts putting your music on the web for people like me to hear. I shouldn't say your music is crap. I apologize!!! Until I put my own stuff on the web like you did, I should be too critical.
