So I go down stairs this morning, to check my email before I leave. I walk into my office and smell burning. I also don't hear my delta fan. Oh sh!t. I quicky slide under my desk, rip the panel off the side of my sx1030b and find a not runnign delta. I look up at my monitor and see a bsod. I touch the hsf with my hand. I can't pull my hand away fast enough. It is hot as a motha. I pull the cord on my comp. I then grab another psu, plug it in(it was AT, so i didnt have to short nothing), and unplug the delta from my potentiometer and plug it into the other psu. I let it cool for 5 minutes, i thouch the hs again, the thing is cool. So I plug the delta back into my main psu. It boots, I restore my OC. All is fine(except for the lack of sensation in my 3 fingers and the permenant marks of the pins of my MC-370 HSF, but hey, I can grow new fingers, I can't grow 1GHz Axia's). Wow, luck was sure as hell on my side today:).

I am about to take some pics of my hand, gotta pull the pics off my cam though. Phew!

Lucky.

I remember I had a Slot-1 P3-700E OCed to 933Mhz. I had the case open when I realized the fan wasn't running. I pull the power and yanked the CPU. Dumb move. I swear I have SL454 branded on my hand for a week.

brinks,
Pics of the CPU? HA. My core may very well be expensive mush, but if it works, it works, and I am not pulling my HSF off for some measily pics..

I can't believe you actually left your computer running overnight while you are overclocking it.

I run ECCp. Besides, It is better for stuff to be left on. Have you ever burned out a light-bulb while it was on? It always happens when you are turning it on or off.

i had that happen with my duron, 600@850. i had a fop38 on it, i came down after school and didn' thear the fan, ripped open the case and found my delta dead as a door nail, lucky my sx830 had enough airflow in the case that it kept the cpu from frying for the hours that the delta had been dead :)

Have you tried running Prime95 to make sure there was no real damage? It's better to find out now that to have a damaged CPU mess up the work that you have to do.
