Bare expressed remorse in court, and defense attorney Seamus Mahoney asked that Bare receive the same sentence as Cameron.
But Ramsey County District Judge Paulette Flynn agreed with prosecutor Jill Gerber that Bare was more culpable than Cameron for mistreating the girl.
Flynn also ordered Bare to help pay the costs of any counseling the girl might need, and placed him on probation for two years.
Cameron said that locking her daughter in the kennel was Bare's idea, but that she agreed to it. She said she sat outside the kennel and talked to her daughter.
