I worked for an engineering company last summer - we were redoing the ventilation at a big hospital, to get into an airconditioner at a building like that you have to get into the maintainence room, find the air handeling unit, open the door and climb in - bernouli makes it tough to pull those doors open while the unit is running, too.

You can be inside them while they are on, it's just noisy and cold, and I kept my distance from the big fan. Damn electric motor rated at 100HP!?! Kinda fun, though, but I didn't get killed, so I guess it's a YMMV thing . . .
